After organizing hikes throughout Sonoma County for two decades, intrepid hikers Bill Myers and Dave Chalk retired in May 2020. They built a community of hikers who deeply appreciate our local parks, enabling them to safely explore new trails, enhance their health and create new friendships.
Many folks still recall “Bill & Dave Hikes” fondly and have expressed an interest in their return. We thank Regional Parks for carrying on the Bill & Dave tradition, and starting in summer 2024, the torch had been passed to the Parks Foundation. The Parks Foundation will now host Bill & Dave Legacy Hikes, and we are thrilled to announce our new hike leader: Brandon Brédo! Brandon had an illustrious career as a Regional Parks ranger for 18 years and currently manages a Sonoma Valley organic farm. We’re thrilled to have Brandon bring his hiking guide expertise, knowledge of natural and cultural history, and wilderness first aide skills to these outings. The Bill & Dave Legacy Series will typically offer a 4-7 mile hike at a Regional Park one weekend day or weekday per month, with occasional other special activities. Our plans for summer and fall 2024 will include hikes at Hood Mountain Regional Park & Preserve, Mark West Regional Park & Preserve, North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park & Preserve, Taylor Mountain Regional Park & Preserve and other popular parks. You must contribute to the Bill & Dave Legacy Hiking Club with an individual donation of $20/month or a household donation of $30/month to be invited on the outings. Donations benefit the Bill & Dave Legacy Fund and compensate our hike leader. Don’t delay – sign up today! Preliminary Schedule - Dates/Times/Meeting Places will be confirmed in email invitations.
