After organizing hikes throughout Sonoma County for two decades, intrepid hikers Bill Myers and Dave Chalk retired in May 2020. They built a community of hikers who deeply appreciate our local parks, enabling them to safely explore new trails, enhance their health and create new friendships.
Beginning in summer 2024, the Parks Foundation started hosting Bill & Dave Legacy Hikes led by Brandon Brédo. Brandon had an illustrious career as a Regional Parks ranger for 18 years and currently manages a Sonoma Valley organic farm. We’re thrilled to have Brandon bring his hiking guide expertise, knowledge of natural and cultural history, and wilderness first aide skills to these outings. The Bill & Dave Legacy Series will typically offer a 4-7 mile hike at a Regional Park one weekend day per month, with occasional other special activities. Our plans for 2025 include hikes at Mark West Regional Park & Preserve, Shiloh Ranch Regional Park, Helen Putnam Regional Park, Foothill Regional Park, Chanslor Ranch, North Sonoma Mountain, new trails at Taylor Mountain and more! Our hiking schedule for 2025 follows:
Bill & Dave Legacy Hikes are offered as a special benefit to our most generous donors who contribute $2,500 or more annually and to donors who have made a bequest to the Parks Foundation through their will or trust, as well as to a select group of donors who previously earmarked their monthly gifts for the Bill & Dave Legacy Fund. To participate at this level, please contact Melissa Kelley or learn more about making a bequest. We offer a variety of benefits for our most loyal donors. For other special event opportunities, please visit our Park Pals webpage to learn about our monthly giving program. |
