Here are some of the ways you can give to Sonoma County Regional Parks:

Your financial support makes parks and programs accessible to everyone! Your annual gift or a single donation to  support the needs of a specific park or program are welcome anytime. Current campaigns are typically featured on the home page of this website or on individual park and program pages.

A gift of appreciated securities is a smart way to support the Parks Foundation and reduce your capital gains tax liability. Donating highly appreciated assets including stock, mutual funds and bonds can provide you with significant tax benefits, as you can deduct the full fair market value of assets held longer than one year.  To make a stock donation, please follow these steps.

So that we can accurately record your stock gift, acknowledge you properly and provide you with a receipt, please contact us by email to let us know your gift is on its way. This will add to the information provided by your financial institution and ensure the smooth processing of your gift.

Legacy gifts to the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation provide a critical source of funds to help ensure that our parks continue to provide recreational, cultural, and outdoor education opportunities for the people of Sonoma County. Find out more.

Tree Fund donations are $100 each and result in a certificate acknowledging that a tree will be planted in honor or in memory of an individual. Donations are held in a fund until Regional Parks needs to plant a tree or trees in one of the county parks.

Giving through a donor advised fund (DAF) gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often funds are granted. If you have a DAF, please consider recommending a donation, or recurring donations to make an immediate impact now – or use your fund to designate future charitable gifts.
So that we can accurately record your DAF gift, acknowledge you properly and provide you with a receipt, please contact us by email to let us know your gift is on its way. This will add to the information provided by your financial institution and ensure the smooth processing of your gift.

Many companies match donations their employees make to charities and some match gifts made by retirees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. The impact of your gift to the parks may be doubled!

For $100, you can sponsor a sheep  for a month of grazing in Sonoma County Regional Parks,
which not only reduces fire risk, but also keeps grasslands and ecosystems healthy. Donate today to help us expand our use of these four-legged friends! We can provide you with a certificate to give to a gift recipient.

The Parks Foundation offers opportunities for tribute and memorial gifts, including furniture in parks.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-deductible gift that can be directed to the Sonoma County Parks Foundation from your IRA. A QCD may make sense for you if you're over age 70 1/2, were already planning to make a charitable gift, and want to avoid your IRA distribution shifting you into a higher tax bracket. To make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, contact your IRA custodian. Be sure to make your gift directly from your IRA to the Sonoma County Parks Foundation to ensure your tax benefits. This article from Charles Schwab explains how a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA optimizes the tax benefits of charitable giving.

If you would like to create a pledge using checks or your donor advised fund, please  email Executive Director Melissa Kelley or call her at 707-565-1830.
