Help put the pickle in our parks!
Did you know that Sonoma County Regional Parks operates pickleball and tennis courts at three different facilities in Sonoma County? Not only that, but all three locations may experience upgrades in the next 18 months as adequate funding becomes available. We welcome your donation to help make improvements of these courts possible!
Larson Park (Sonoma Valley) – This park will be revitalized with the construction of four standalone pickleball courts, three tennis courts, a permanent bathroom, regulation-sized soccer field, basketball courts, tiny tots playground, older kids’ playground and group picnic area. We currently have a $100,000 challenge grant, meaning your donation to this park – including the pickleball courts – will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
Maxwell Farms Regional Park (Sonoma Valley) – The USTA is raising $104,000 to resurface tennis courts 4 and 5 at this popular Sonoma Valley destination. Regional Parks has asked the pickleball community and the nonprofit Sonoma County Parks Foundation to raise $10,000 to stripe the courts. In addition, fundraising has begun for Phase 2 improvements at Maxwell Farms, which will include construction of new pickleball courts separate from the tennis courts.
Occidental Community Center – Regional Parks will be striping the community center tennis courts to accommodate both tennis and pickleball. The Parks Foundation is raising $10,000 to match $10,000 that will be raised by Occidental pickleball and tennis players.
According to the 2024 Sports & Fitness Industry Association report, in 2023 pickleball grew to 13.6 million players in the United States. The report also noted that pickleball continues to be the fastest-growing sport in America, growing over 50% from 2022 to 2023, and an incredible 223% in four years since 2020.
Thank you for helping improve facilities in Sonoma County for this popular and rapidly growing sport!
